5 Easy and Delicious Camping Recipes

Campfire food is about to get a lot more exciting! These 5 campfire recipes are sure to make your next trip so much better.  

 

1.TERIYAKI BBQ SKEWERS

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 4

 

What you’ll need:

  • Airtight, sealed Tupperware containers
  • Skewers

 

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into strips)
  • ½ cup of barbeque sauce
  • ¾ cup of soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon of chopped garlic
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar

 

What you’ll do at home:

  1. Combine and mix the soy sauce, chopped garlic, and brown sugar in the Tupperware container
  2. Add and fully submerge chicken strips in mixture
  3. Seal the container and refrigerate the night before your trip
  4. Pack in a secure icebox

 

What you’ll do at camp:

  1. Remove sealed container from icebox
  2. Thread 1 chicken strip onto each skewer
  3. Roast over fire or hot coals for 5 – 10 minutes, until chicken is cooked thoroughly

 

 

 

2.GARLIC  MAC N’ CHEESE

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

 

What you’ll need:

  • Mini aluminum pie tins
  • Aluminum foil

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup of elbow macaroni
  • ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper

 

What you’ll do at home:

  1. Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions. Drain and rinse.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine alfredo sauce, cheeses, garlic and milk and stir
  3. Add in salt and pepper to taste, stir until all ingredients are combined
  4. Pour mixture into four greased, mini aluminum pie tins
  5. Oil one side of aluminum foil and cover each mac and cheese mini tin, with the oiled side down
  6. Seal the aluminum foil tightly and store in a large Ziploc bag in a cooler until ready to cook

What you’ll do at camp:

  1. Remove mini pie tins from cooler and prepare a fire. Let it burn down to the coals.
  2. Place each pie tin on a cooking rack over the hot coals and cook for 10 minutes or until hot
  3. Remove from fire and eat immediately!

 

 

3. FIRE ROASTED CORN

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Yield: 4

 

What you’ll need:

  • Aluminum Foil
  • Tongs

 

Ingredients:

  • 4 corn on the cob (husks on)
  • 1 stick of butter
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Chipotle Powder
  • 2 limes
  • Salt and Pepper

 

What you’ll do at home:

  1. Nothing!

 

What you’ll do at camp:

  1. Gently peel back the husks (without tearing the off of the stalk) and remove the corn silk
  2. Rub the corn with butter (as much as desired)
  3. Sprinkle with cayenne pepper and chipotle powder, to taste
  4. Squeeze lime juice onto corn
  5. Roll husks back over to cover up the corn. If there are any exposed sections of corn, wrap in aluminum foil
  6. Place on grill
  7. Roast for 35 minutes, turning periodically
  8. Let cool for 5 mins, and enjoy!

 

 

4. FIRESIDE CHILI CHEESE FRIES

Prep Time: 1 minute

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 4

 

What you’ll need:

  • Aluminum foil

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 small package of frozen French fries
  • 1 can of chili
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

 

What you’ll do at home:

  • Nothing!

 

What you’ll do at camp:

  1. Oil the inside of a doubled up large sheet of extra-strong foil
  2. Place the frozen fries in the middle of the oiled sheet, close
  3. Cook the fries on your cooking rack until cooked thoroughly, roughly 20 minutes
  4. Open foil and spread cheese and chili over the fries, close foil again, cook until cheese has melted
  5. Remove and cool for 5 minutes. Enjoy!

 

 

5.ORANGE ZEST CAMPFIRE CINNAMON ROLLS

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 8 rolls

 

What you’ll need:

  • Aluminum Foil

 

Ingredients:

  • 4 Large oranges
  • 1 can of Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls with Icing

 

What you’ll do at home:

  • Nothing!

 

What you’ll do at camp:

  1. Cut each orange in half and scoop out the insides (eat as a snack or store in Tupperware for later)
  2. Open Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls and set icing to the side. Place one roll in each orange half
  3. Place each orange roll on a large baking sheet and lightly cover with aluminum foil
  4. Place cooking tray over the fire, keeping a constant eye on the tray while they rise
  5. Once the rolls have risen, pull them off the fire and set to cool
  6. Add icing to the rolls, and enjoy!
