5 Fruits and Vegetables You Should Be Eating in July

By: Kayla Brown

Due to the year-long availability of fruits and veggies in grocery stores, it’s easy to forget that produce is meant to be harvested in optimal seasons. And whether you’re hitting the grocery store or the farmers market, consider enjoying these fruits and vegetables all July long. Keep in mind that this list may vary depending on where you live!

1. Corn

From Mexican-style street corn to a black bean burger, corn brings versatility to all of your summer recipes!

2. Raspberries

Add some fresh raspberries to your favorite dessert for a summer treat, or make the most of this season by turning your raspberry harvest into delicious preserves.

3. Tomatoes

This fruit grows in abundance on the east coast, and though the majority of Americans consume the bulk of their tomatoes in things like pizza and ketchup, challenge yourself this summer by making your own tomato sauce or trying out a super simple tomato salad.

4. Basil

Herbs are in the peak season during the summer, but we all have a special place in our hearts for fresh basil. Brighten up the flavors of almost anything: pizza, burgers, salads, pasta and more, by adding some fresh basil to the mix.

5. Summer squash

We’ve been spiralizing our zucchini all year – but now it’s really time to experiment with zucchini, yellow squash, pattypan squash, and more!
