These spooky cookies are a fun treat for the whole family. Bake them and let everyone decorate their own for a holiday activity!
3 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for surface
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp. Milk
1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
5 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. heavy cream
1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk until mixed and set aside.
In a mixer or large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy and pale in color. Add egg, milk, and vanilla and beat until combined, then add flour mixture gradually until totally combined.
Shape into round disk and wrap it in plastic. Refrigerate the dough for one hour!
Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out the dough til it’s 1/8th” thick. Use halloween themed cookie cutters to cut out your cookies. Put onto Double Burner Pan or Cookie Sheet (lined with parchment) and freeze for 10 minutes.
Make your frosting. In a large bowl with mixer, beat together butter, powdered sugar until no lumps remain. Add your cream, almond extract (optional) and salt, then keep mixing till combined.
Bake cookies until edges are lightly golden, 8 to 10 minutes.
Let your cookies cool and then decorate with frosting!
